National Alliance for Advanced Transportation Batteries

NAATBatt’s mission is to establish the United States as the world-class manufacturing technology leader in lithium-ion battery cells for transportation applications. 

The main focus of the organization has been to establish a high volume cell manufacturing facility in the U.S. to service both the automotive/truck and military vehicle industries.  NAATBatt is concerned with  catalyzing the development of a sustainable, electrified power train industry in the U.S. in which battery energy storage will be the key enabling technology.

Boston-Power became a charter member of the consortium in December 2008. NAATBatt has 50 members, including cell manufacturers, supply chain and equipment manufacturers, academia, end users and an assortment of not-for-profits and trade associations.  NAATBatt was modeled after one of the most successful consortiums to date, Sematech, which helps reverse the course of technology transfer from the U.S. in the semiconductor field.

The U.S. now has an industry organization which will to work on energy storage related issues with its members, and Boston-Power is a proud member.
