Eric Tu, Vice President of Asia Manufacturing

Eric Tu is tasked with overseeing the construction and operation of Boston-Power’s lithium-ion manufacturing plant in Asia.  To meet increasing demand, he will also lead capacity expansion efforts with our contract manufacturing partner in Taiwan.  His responsibilities include managing schedules, budgets, volume, and quality targets while maintaining local regulatory compliance and operating within US GAAP guidelines.  Mr. Tu has been engaged in global manufacturing for more than 20 years, including 12 years with increasing senior management roles in the hard disk industry, including with Komag, Inc (now Western Digital Corporation) and its key substrate supplier, Kobe Precision Inc.  While with Kobe Precision, he also ran Kobe Steel’s operations and helped ramp revenue from $20 to $80 million, bringing the company into profitability.  He was most recently with JDSU, where he built and managed plants in Taiwan, Shunde and Shenzhen, bringing manufacturing capacity from $0 to $200 million per year. He subsequently served as the Vice President of North America Operations & Corporate Technical Processes for JDSU. Mr. Tu holds a MSME from University of Missouri Rolla and a BSME from Taiwan University.
