Boston-Power joins International Sustainable Consumption Conference in Beijing

The Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of (MEP) held the ‘International Seminar on Sustainable Consumption - Eco-labeling and the Green Procurement’ on June 10th-12th, 2008 in Beijing, China. The goal of this event was to study and develop the strategies and concepts around this topic and exchange information and experience about sustainable procurement at international and local levels. Boston-Power was honored to receive an invitation to this event to help educate and shape China’s policies in this area.

The seminar was focused on Sustainable Consumption and Environmental Protection, International Mutual Recognition among Eco-labeling and Green Trade, Governmental Green Purchasing and Public Green Procurement, Eco-labeling and Sustainable Procurement and Enterprise Competition. The aim is to promote public awareness on sustainable consumption and production, strengthen international cooperation in the environmental protection field and green trade development, and speed up international sustainable consumption and production processes.

This seminar was hosted by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Peoples Republic of China (MEP), the Ministry of Finance People’s Republic of China (MOF), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the European Commission (EC). The Environmental Development Center of MEP (EDC) and the Environmental Certification Center of MEP (CEC) were responsible for the organization of the seminar.

The seminar also included relevant experts from Global Ecolabelling Network, GEN, International Green Procurement Network IGPN, Eco-labeling organizations and Green Procurement Networks around the world and the delegates from relevant domestic ministries, procurement centers, industry associations and companies, such as Boston-Power.
