Boston Power’s next-generation battery solution proves popular with government, OEMs and technology media in China
 
18 February, 2008 -Boston-Power, Inc., founder and CEO, Dr. Christina Lampe-Onnerud has just completed a successful visit to China as part of the ‘US Clean Energy Trade Mission’ to Beijing, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, China. The mission was arranged in collaboration between the Department of Commerce and the US State Department, and Boston-Power, a rapidly growing provider of first-to-market portable power solutions, was invited as part of a pioneering group of private companies representing the clean energy sector.
 
Dr.Lampe-Onnerud was encouraged by the positive feedback received on Boston-Power’s, Sonata battery solution. With its benefits of long life, fast charge rate, improved safety and less impact on the environment interest in Sonata was high.
 
During the visit Dr.Lampe-Onnerud met with a number of key government officials including a briefing and discussion with Deputy Director General Wu Guihui and the Chinese Energy Bureau at the National Development and Reform Commission in Beijing (NDRC)
 
In Guangdong, capital of Guangzhou province Dr.Lampe-Onnerud paid a visit to the Chinese Academy of Science where she participated in discussions around international intellectual property rights.
 
A cordial meeting with Mr. Huang Longyun, the Executive Vice Governor of the People’s government of Guangdong, also proved fruitful as he welcomed the delegation of clean tech industry leaders to work together in helping the region grow in an environmentally sustainable way.
 
While in China, Dr.Lampe-Onnerud took time out to visit staff at Boston-Power’s facility in Shenzen, which was celebrating its third year of operation in the country. She also reviewed manufacturing operations where
Boston-Power technologists work on-the- line, side by side with HYB staff ensuring the quality and integrity of Boston- Power’s technology platform is strictly adhered to.
 
Further to this, Dr. Lampe-Onnerud found time to hold multiple one-on-one meetings with members of the Chinese private sector interested in Boston-Power’s Sonata battery platform.
 
Dr. Lampe-Onnerud rounded out her mission with media briefings in Beijing and Taipei with some of China's leading industry publications.
 
“I came to China because I think there's so much momentum in China...I enjoy the culture. I enjoy the speed at which China is growing. I enjoy the opportunities, the growth is enormous...We're here and we're committed to staying here,” Dr. Lampe-Onnerud said at the opening of the Clean-Energy Forum in Beijing.
